The only thing more open-hearted than Adam Byczkowski's button-down shirts are the songs he releases under the pseudonym Better Person. The Berlin-based Pole first garnered attention with his debut single in 2015: eighties synths met an eighties bass line and eighties vocals, but the result sounded far less nostalgic than it did profound and full of the present moment. »Sentiment« made it clear in just four and a half minutes that the sounds of three decades ago can still be as cuddly as they are creepy. At the beginning of 2016, »It's Only You« was followed by an EP on the Berlin imprint Mansions & Millions; on this EP, Byczkowski's game with the constant presence of our pop past was exposed for the first time in full swing. After exploring Polish pop music with the single »Zakochany Czlowiek« in 2017, the future of Better Person brings with it even more of the past—and Byczkowski brings a saxophonist with him to Pop-Kultur.
