Since they debuted in 2012 with the Lana del Rey cover »Sommerzeit, Traurigkeit« on This Charming Man, Die Nerven have raced down their own path and the rest of the world has been trying to catch up. The Stuttgart trio doesn’t want to feel obliged to do anything, but they’re capable of doing it all—with a minimalistic flair. Their first breakthrough album »Fluidum« was followed by 2014’s »Fun« and 2015’s »Out«, which they introduced during the first Pop-Kultur edition at the Berghain Kantine before collaborating with the more-than-active Julian Knoth (alias Peter Muffin), Max Rieger (alias All diese Gewalt, performed last year at Pop-Kultur), and Kevin Kuhn (member of Karies, among others, who performed at Pop-Kultur two years ago) on a live album for the label Glitterhouse in 2017. Die Nerven are as raw, energetic, and poetic as punk was in its great heydey, and therefore exactly what present-day Germany needs, both because and in spite of the fact that we don’t deserve it.
