»Voy Ahí«, or »I’m going there«, was the title of Catalina Santos Ruiz's first single, which preceded the release of her EP »Kühl«. It’s both essential and not at all necessary to point out that this Colombian uses the project MIAHUSH to unswervingly pursue her own path. The four tracks on her debut »Dance The Unspeakable« hinted at a passion for ›all things wave‹; covers of the Nine Inch Nails’ »Hurt« and LCD Soundsystem’s »Dance Yrself Clean« exposed yet more facets of her sound. Ruiz’s musical past should be clear enough, and where she’s headed, i.e. her musical future, is explained in »Voy Ahí«: »Voy Ahí / donde las ideas no callan / y las olas me acompañan« »I’m going to a place / where ideas don’t stay silent / and the waves accompany me.« She can only mean Berlin. Incidentally, Santos Ruiz was a participant in the 2016 »Goethe Talents« sponsorship programme, which is organised every year by Pop-Kultur together with the Goethe Institut and recruits young talents from the Global South and elsewhere. Last year, she also took part in our »Pop-Kultur Nachwuchs« workshop programme.
