Her name really is Tyra Banks, and of course that's a problem. At the moment, however, it’s only one of several that the South Londoner has to deal with. After delivering her »Fire in the Booth« freestyle on BBC Radio 1Xtra and scaring the Yeezys out of a Kanye West beat, Nicky Minaj instantly signed up as a patron and Cardi B invited her to come along for her first England tour. Things could be worse, in other words, but Banks also doesn’t want to give us false illusions. The fact that her flow, which takes inspiration from US role models like Lil’ Kim, isn’t always as smooth as it might seem, is less of a weakness than an occasion for an announcement. With the mixtape »The Coldest Winter Ever«, the vibes of her preceding singles freeze into introverted miniatures of a life that, under the surface, is plagued by more than one problem. In other words, Ms Banks delivered her first rhymes at the age of eleven, preceded to obliterate the city’s open mics, and is now ready to dig up the graves of the British rap scene.
