Henrik Schwarz is a master of many trades, and has been for a long time. In 1992 he started DJing; after ten years and a solid education in Chicago house and Detroit techno, he began to make a name for himself as a producer. Since then, he has not only released a slew of records either solo or in tandem with musicians like Bugge Wesseltoft—he’s also written music for James Brown and Mary J. Blige as well as for ballet and philharmonic orchestras. For Pop-Kultur’s »Commissioned Work« programme, Schwarz has worked together with the Amsterdam-based Alma Quartet to develop the project »Plunderphonia«. He will be joined by !k7 label boss Horst Weidenmüller in a discussion moderated by journalist Jenni Zylka about this and other commissions, and about collaborations between classical instruments and electronics.
