The Pop-Hayat programme curated by Yeşim Duman draws from her two queer event series at Hamburg’s Golden Pudel club, Bubble and Erdogay, and aims to show in the framework of Pop-Kultur how discourse flows into disco. On the final evening of Pop-Hayat, Duman will play back to back at the Frannz Club with Nedalot, who is self-described as a »DJ / Artist / Producer / Creative Hustler / Savage / Lover«. Their music draws inspiration from sounds across the world but is also firmly anchored in the here and now. The Berlin-based Lecken-Resident KILLA will join the roster with a vinyl-only set that navigates the territory between futuristic techno and traditional house, and Discwoman member BEARCAT, who shows lots of versatility in the booth alongside her work as a sound designer, sound technician, and make-up artist. Versatility may as well be the word of the night, which like bubble and Erdogay is geared primarily, but not exclusively, toward to a queer audience.

»Pop-Hayat«

»Hayat« means life. In this programme, curator Yesim Duman, a Golden Pudel resident, ByteFM presenter, activist, and organiser who helped plan some of the events in Pop-Kultur’s programme last year, condenses her involvement in the queer club scene and the post-migrant discourse into one series, bringing artists from various genders and races onto the stages and behind the scenes of the Pop-Kultur Festival. It will include the film »Silvana«, a documentary about the Swedish rapper Silvana Imam, discussions with the author Fatma Aydemir, the rapper Lady Bitch Ray, MISSY journalist Hengameh Yaghoobifarah, and the artist Ebru Düzgün aka Ebow, as well as Nachwuchs workshops on gender equality with Lady Bitch Ray and Caren Miesenberger and, of course, the festival's final club night featuring BEARCAT and KILLA. Hayat, life, should be enjoyed in all of its facets.
