As a global project, Mix The City brings local sounds directly to your browser. The collection of audio snippets provided by various artists can be combined and contrasted, complemented with images and in the end sent around the world as a video clip. The result is always as unique as any one of the cities it represents, which range from Hamburg to Istanbul and, since this year, Glasgow and Berlin. Emmanuel Witzthum, the initiator of the project, is a project developer from the British Council. Together with Christian Morin, who is responsible for the Berlin edition, Witzhum will discuss the sonic properties of Glasgow and Berlin, the culture of remixing in the public sphere, and how local sounds can become global phenomena. The Berlin edition of Mix The City will be shown as an installation on RambaZamba’s rehearsal stage.
